Laboratory Manager

Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Oversee day-to-day operations in our lab, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
Provide comprehensive support to our laboratories and staff, including maintaining lab functionality, managing stock and consumable inventories.
Manage urgent and regular weekly lab operation tasks including daily stocking of labs, monitoring and collection of lab waste, ordering and changing CO2/LN2 tanks, receiving packages, coordinating new shipments, and autoclaving glassware.
Develop and implement lab procedures while upholding health and safety standards.
Oversee maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, scheduling preventative maintenance as needed and maintaining records
Manage laboratory budget and resources, including ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment.
Lead vendor relationships for lab service providers including vendors for lab equipment, compressed gas, lab coats, waste collection, EH&S consultants and janitorial services.
Lead Safety Team to ensure the lab is safe place to work and it maintains compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards. Activities include routine safety audits, implement corrective actions, engage with inspections, facilitate routine safety meetings, maintain waste collection records and update safety polices as needed
Support onboarding and training of new lab personnel on safety procedures and proper use of lab equipment
Troubleshoot and solve operational problems to maintain efficient lab workflow.
Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in biotechnology and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve lab efficiency
Required Education / Experience and Skills:
BS or MS with 4+ years of experience of relevant experience in academic or biotechnology company setting.
Passionate about science, cell biology, and protein sciences.
Extremely reliable, organized, and hard-working and is a quick learner who understands the dynamics of a scientific lab.
When needed, works beyond the 9-5 norm to ensure time-sensitive tasks are completed - on call for emergencies outside of working hours.
Someone with previous experience as a lab manager or a scientist looking to transition into a lab management role.
Exceptional in organizing, planning, and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Excellent at communication, able to maintain good relations with vendors and suppliers.
Versatile teammate who embraces the day-to-day tasks needed to efficiently run a lab, such as re-stocking lab reagents, autoclaving, and making buffers.
Willing to go the extra mile to ensure the lab operates smoothly.
Proficient in laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including hazardous materials handling and waste disposal.
Experience with common laboratory equipment and software is a plus
Job level will be based on prior experience and accomplishment. The expected base salary range for the Lab Manager role is $125,000-$155,000.
The above pay range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation is based on various factors, including experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This pay range is for the Bay Area, CA, location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
