Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery and Engineering
We are seeking for an experienced scientist to lead antibody discovery programs within our Protein Sciences team. The candidate will discover, optimize and move into development therapeutic biologics (e.g. bispecific antibodies). He/she should possess extensive knowledge and experience with antibody discovery platforms, preferentially display technologies, such as phage / yeast display. He/she will be involved in a wide range of activities to support the discovery and engineering of biologics, including close collaboration with internal and external teams.
We are a fast-paced start-up biotechnology company developing therapeutic bispecific antibodies with a novel mechanism of action.
Required Education / Experience and Skills:
PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience in industry
Minimum 5-6 years of experience in biologics drug discovery and pre-clinical development
Experience with drug discovery processes from target validation and therapeutic concept to clinical development
Knowlegde and experience with a broad spectrum of therapeutic modalities utilizing biologics, including mono-, bi- and multi-specific antibodies
Experience with display technologies, phage/yeast preferentially, to discover antibodies is required
Experience constructing antibody libraries for affinity maturation, running selections and screens to identify binders against diverse targets, including cell surface receptors
Experience optimizing antibodies for therapeutic use, including humanization
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, including cross-functional initiatives and strong ability to foster a collaborative work environment
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is expected
Job level will be based on prior experience and accomplishment. The expected base salary range for this role is $144,000-$168,000 for a Principal Scientist.
The above pay range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation is based on various factors, including experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This pay range is for the Bay Area, CA, location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
